
Railz Miniworld celebrates this year its fifth anniversary. As a result of this milestone Railz Miniworld will be renamed on April 27th 2012 by train-lover and dj Erik de Zwart. The reason for the change of name is that the miniature world now offers of a lot more than a model railway.
In the past five years Railz Miniworld has grown to be a varied miniature world with city views, polder landscapes and harbour areas, which is why the new name. Erik de Zwart will reveal the new name on Friday April 27th to invitees and the press. He will also become the first new inhabitant and honorary citizen and will get a place in Miniworld Rotterdam. This will start a new tradition: from April 28th onwards all visitors can become an inhabitant of Miniworld Rotterdam. On April 27th the new website miniworldrotterdam.com will be launched.
Aiming at growth
The year 2011 ended with a new record of more than 80.000 visitors, a growth of 11% compared with 2010. In the first quarter of 2012 the total number of visitors reached almost 350.000 since the opening in 2007. Director Marc van Buren: “We are aiming at further growth. Besides the new name Miniworld Rotterdam we will focus on the stories that are shown in miniature world. With the adventures of the citizens of Miniworld Rotterdam we will further challenge the imagination of our visitors. In the years to come we expect to reach a wider public and maintain the growth trend in the number of visitors.”
