Outside the centre of Rotterdam, the city also offers various attractions, parks, buildings, shopping centres and neighbourhoods that are more than worth a visit. Rotterdam Zuid, for example, is the youngest district in Rotterdam, and its residents reflect that fact: 70% are under the age of 18. The Zuid district includes the Zuidplein shopping centre, the Ahoy arena and events centre, the colourful market at Afrikaanderplein and of course the De Kuip stadium, home base to FC Feyenoord. The streets of the Oude Noorden area with its old workers houses are lively and interesting; more and more trendy shops are opening here.
Children and parents can have fun all day long at the Diergaarde Blijdorp (Rotterdam Zoo) and Plaswijckpark. For peace, quiet and nature, visit the Kralingse Bos, the Hoge en Lage Bergse Bos or Trompenburg Arboretum with its gorgeous botanical gardens.
