Queen’s Day (Koninginnedag) on 30 April is the national holiday in the Netherlands on which the birthday of Queen Beatrix is celebrated. On Queen’s Day and the night before (Koninginnenacht) there are dozens of parties and festivals in Rotterdam. This year Queen’s Day takes place for the last time, because Queen Beatrix will be replaced by King Willem-Alexander, now known as Prince Alexander.
The stores in the city centre are opened from 12 pm to 6 pm. Alexandrium Shopping Center is opened from 12 pm to 5 pm. Winkelcentrum Zuidplein is closed.
