Luxor Theater Rotterdam

The new Luxor Theatre, at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge, has a large auditorium (seats up to 1500) used for musicals, cabaret, theatre concerts, operas and dance performances. The Luxor Theatre is also suitable for events and conferences.

Commissioned by the municipality of Rotterdam, Peter Wilson designed the warm red theatre building on Wilhelminapier in 2001. This same architect designed the surprising interior of the close on 16,000 m2 theatre. The red colour of the buildings exterior and the various shades of red in the auditorium give the theatre its allure. The auditorium meets the very highest standards in terms of acoustics and theatre technology. The stage is 42 metres wide and 21 metres deep. The performance area measures 16 x 16 metres.
