- Opening hours
The Kunsthal is currently closed for visitors due to a renovation in which the sustainability of our building is greatly improved. Our activities shall continue online, for example in the interactive participation project MaakMee (Co-Create). In this project, people are given the unique opportunity to participate in the realisation of the exhibition 'S.H.O.E.S. Head over Heels' via www.KunsthalMaakMee.nl (in Dutch only). The Kunsthal will reopen her doors with an exciting exhibition programme on the first of February 2014.
Kunsthal Rotterdam is an exceptional exhibition building, where around 25 exhibitions are held annually. The Kunsthal displays culture in the widest sense of the word: classical and contemporary art, design and, photography, from elitist to popular. The Kunsthal often experiments with themes that in many cases provide the initial impetus for an exhibition. This approach has resulted in an exciting and varied exhibition repertoire. Designed by architect Rem Koolhaas, this striking building offers more than 3,300 m2 of exhibition space. The building is a work of art in itself. A rising ramp runs straight through the building and bridges the height differences between the embankment and the lower-lying park. There are two different rooms around this ramp and a second ramp runs in the opposite direction. A museum café, which opens out onto a sun terrace, completes the ensemble.
