Day 1

Take the metro to Rotterdam Blaak Station.

Visit the Markthal, a trendy hotspot for foodies and architecture enthusiasts. Go to Amy’s for a Giraffe Coffee, to YoYo Fresh Tea Bar for a refreshing cup of tea and to Heavenly Smoothies for a vitamin shot. At the free exhibition De Tijdtrap on the escalators, you can properly admire this iconic construction.

Stroll to the Pannenkoekstraat, the heart of the MaHo district. Fashion store Objet Trouvé, design walhalla Depot Rotterdam and the Urban Photos gallery are a few of the top addresses on the bohemian chic Pannenkoekstraat. Cocktail boutique Barrelproof, sneaker paradise WOEI and design shop GROOS are located nearby.

Stop for lunch at the NINE-BAR for delicious sandwiches and great coffee. When the weather is good you can sit on the sunny terrace on the Nieuwemarkt.

Walk towards the shopping street the Meent for more shopping. Be inspired by the must-haves at concept store KEET and the art photography at Yellow Korner or treat yourself to the heavenly chocolate from the Bonte Koe.

Need a break from shopping? At Museum Rotterdam, cultural-historical collection items and new cultural heritage items tell the story of the city and its residents.

Drop in at the Bijenkorf department store on the Coolsingel and then wander through the Hoogstraat to the Oude Haven. Enjoy a cocktail at Stockholm or indulge in a culinary treat from Fitzgerald or MOOII.

Drop your bags off in your hotel room at CitizenM and relax in the luxurious lounge.

Catch a tram to the Weena or Rotterdam Central Station and go dancing at Annabel pop podium, drink a beer at the Biergarten, taste cocktails at the Suicide Club or take your chances at the Holland Casino. A night out in the Rotterdam Central District is diverse and adventurous!

Day 2

Take it easy after your late night. Walk past the Wijnhaven from your hotel towards the Witte de Withstraat and stop for breakfast at the Bagel Bakery on the Schilderstraat.

The Witte de Withstraat is not only the heart of the Rotterdam art scene, it also has lots of fashion stores like Margreeth Olsthoorn, concept store Collectiv and Dearhunter Vintage.

Time to eat again? Start with coffee and cake at the Kunsthal café and be inspired by the exhibitions at the Kunsthal Rotterdam.

Stroll through the Museumpark to the Nieuwe Binnenweg where you’ll find a huge choice of shops like concept store PLEK, cute gift shop VOORLOPIG and the fashion hotspot Sister Moon. There’s no reason to go hungry either with artisan bakeries (Koekela and Jordy’s), cafés (Buiten, Vlaamsch Broodhuys and Urban Espresso Bar), delicatessens (Vermeyden and La Zia Maria) and wine shops (Odile Hemmen).

Time for a drink? Sit down on the terrace at one of the student hotspots Rotown and Stalles. Is it late-night shopping night? Then it’s shop ‘til you drop. Susan Bijl with her colourful bags is located on the Westersingel and on the Van Oldenbarneveltstraat you’ll find gems like Wendela van Dijk, SHPPR and Hutspot.

Walk to the West-Kruiskade.

The choices on the West-Kruiskade come from all over the world and the cultural melting pot is more prevalent here than anywhere else in Rotterdam. Follow your nose and be surprised by the specialities that the restaurants have on offer.

Heading home or are you staying at CitizenM for another night? After the last 48 hours, you should be able to find your way around Rotterdam.
