Day 1
10.23
Start the day with a visit to the Euromast, the highest observation tower in the Netherlands. Enjoy the view from the platform and the brasserie 100 metres above the ground. Or go up even higher to 185 metres with the Euroscope.
12.15
Enjoy an early lunch at Parqiet in an old coach house at the foot of the Euromast. After lunch you can play football or relax in the park.
14.03
Take tram 8 to the Maritime Museum. Here, among the historic ships and cranes, you’ll get a feel for how the Rotterdam port has developed. The Offshore Experience is a 360 degree film projection with special effects that will make you feel like you are really out at sea or three kilometres underwater. The little ones can enjoy an exciting adventure with Professor Splash!
16.34
Time for a break! Treat yourself to a refreshing drink on the deck of the bright red lightship Vessel 11, in the Wijnhaven.
18.03
Wander along the Boompjesboulevard and see the Flag Parade: an outdoor museum with 230 flags side by side. Admire the beautiful skyline and marvel at the #makeithappen wall painting from the Belgian artist Bart Smeets.
18.33
Catch a Watertaxi to the ss Rotterdam, an impressive cruise ship that sailed back and forth between Rotterdam and Manhattan in the sixties. The steamship Rotterdam is a hotel and has restaurants, bars and a terrace. There are also a variety of guided tours available.
19.00
Relax and freshen up in your hotel room and then have dinner in the family restaurant the Lido, with its fantastic promenade deck and splash pool!
Day 2
08.34
Enjoy breakfast on the ss Rotterdam, ready for an early start.
9.41
Take the metro or tram, or hire a bike. The free shuttle service will drop you at Rijnhaven metro station. Lots to choose from today. Will it be Rotterdam Zoo or Plaswijckpark adventure playground? Or do you want to combine several activities to see more of Rotterdam? Then start your day at Miniworld Rotterdam, doing experiments at the Ontdekhoek or visit the children’s museum Villa Zebra.
14.10
After a lovely morning, head to the Willemsplein at the Erasmusbrug where the Spido harbour tour starts from. The Spido sails past wharves, docks and thousands of containers in 75 exciting minutes. Lots for the kids to see!
17.37
If you went to the Rotterdam Zoo or Plaswijckpark then reserve a spot on the Pancake Boat. Here you can eat as many pancakes as you like in 75 minutes, and enjoy a fantastic view of Rotterdam’s impressive skyline. If you prefer to stay ashore then choose one of the many restaurants around the Veerhaven harbour area or in the converted warehouses at the Westelijk Handelsterrein.
19.33
If you’re staying onboard the ss Rotterdam for another night, why not finish off your trip with a football game at De Kuip stadium, a show at Rotterdam Ahoy or a film at Pathé De Kuip?
