Former cruise ship the ss Rotterdam is home to two bars, the Captains Lounge and the Ocean Bar . The interior of the Captains Lounge has an authentic 50s/60s feel; it was recently renovated, although most details remain original. The Lounge is on the Main Deck and has an intimate, relaxed ambience. The barista serves a number of unique coffee combinations, such as Dutch Treat or Tiramisu in a Cup. High Tea is available from 12. Later in the day the bar begins serving classic and modern cocktails with international allure.
The ss Rotterdam is the biggest ocean steamer ever built in the Netherlands. As former flagship of the Holland-America Line, she has voyaged many of the world’s seas since she first set sail in 1959. Now moored permanently at the Rijnhaven in Rotterdam, near Katendrecht, you can still feel the history on board. An extensive renovation between 2005 and 2008 restored the 1950s interior and the ship’s many artworks to their former glory.
The ss Rotterdam is easy to reach by car or public transport. From the Rijnhaven metro station, it is a 10-minute journey on bus line 77. Paid parking is available on the quay.
