The Usual Rotterdam

The Usual combines a hotel experience with premium design, while placing a strong focus on positive impact. The hotel targets travelers who are not only looking for a top location, but also the quality of a high-end stay that prioritises sustainability and responsible travel.

The social spaces at The Usual are uniquely adapted to the character of each city, building and community. From their signature bar and coworking spaces to a mindfulness-centric gym, these spaces are designed to foster local connections through powerful collaborations. By bringing guests and locals together, The Usual provides the perfect environment to enjoy a coffee or attend vibrant, locally-run events.

Interior design:

The Usual collaborates with renowned design partners who share their values to create warm, yet stylish interiors with a premium feel and minimal environmental footprint. Sustainability is evident in every detail, from the recycled plastic flooring to the use of cork for its carbon-absorbing properties. These thoughtful choices reflect their commitment to conscious design and eco-friendly practices.

The Architecture:

The hotel is housed in two former office buildings from the post-war period around 1950, which have been designated as city monuments for their characteristic architecture. The exterior and facades have been restored and repainted, with special attention to the main entrance, where a renovated canopy and original window profiles with modern double insulated glass have been provided.

In line with their sustainability goals, all available roof surfaces are covered with native vegetation, and the building complies with EU taxonomy standards for climate change resilience.

The Usual Organization :

Founded by hospitality industry experts from citizenM, The Hoxton, Bunk Hotels and Sircle Collection, among others, The Usual offers a progressive hotel concept that emphasizes connection—with the environment and between people. They are committed to transparency about their environmental impact and actively strive to reduce it, while fostering social cohesion and strong relationships between guests and the local community.
