Spring in Rotterdam

It's Spring!

Spring in Rotterdam

Spring is the ideal season to visit Rotterdam. Admire the city’s architecture and parks in the spring sun and enjoy yourself on a terrace or at a festival.

Holidays

Not only the weather but also the many public holidays ensure that spring is the ideal time to come to Rotterdam for a day or longer. There are many festivals in the city over Easter and on King’s Day, such as Motel Mozaïque and Oranjebitter, but there are also plenty of fun events on Pentecost, Ascension Day and Liberation Day. The shops in the centre are open on all of the public holidays and the terraces are open again too. If it looks like it’s going to rain, then pop into a beer café or cocktail bar.

Festivals

The outdoor festival season starts in the spring. Dance at Boothstock and the annual Toffler Festival or, if you want to take it easy, visit the Trek food festival or drink a glass of wine at the RYPP wine festival. Some of the Rotterdam Opera Day performances also take place outdoors. Another big event in the spring is the Rotterdam Marathon. If you’re not taking part, come and watch and encourage the runners.

Rotterdam Architecture Month

Rotterdam Architecture Month

We celebrate Rotterdam Architecture Month from 24 May to 16 June 2019. With its impressive skyline and highlights such as Central Station, the Erasmus Bridge, the Markthal and soon the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam is the top architecture city in the Netherlands.
