New Year's Eve in Rotterdam

Admire the largest fireworks show in the Netherlands in Rotterdam. You can view the show free of charge from the Boompjeskade. Don’t forget to taste our delicious ‘oliebollen.

National Fireworks

The National Fireworks is a fireworks display not to be missed. Enjoy one of the most beautiful and spectacular fireworks shows in the Netherlands on New Year’s Eve. This year there are also fireworks shows in Nesselande and Hoek van Holland! For the little ones who also want to see fireworks, there are the National Children’s Fireworks at 19:00.

Come by metro for free

This year, the metro to and from The National Fireworks at the Erasmus Bridge is free again. RET metro lines C and E run a special timetable on 31 December between 22:00 and 02:00. Every 10 minutes, metro line C runs between Capelsebrug and Vijfsluizen and line E between Meijersplein and Slinge. The entrance gates are open between 22:00 and 02:00 so you can travel with the metro for free. If you get off at Beurs or Wilhelminaplein metro station, the walk to The National Fireworks at the Erasmus Bridge will only take you a few minutes.

Dive into 2020!

It’s a typical Dutch tradition to start a new year with a dive in to the water. In Rotterdam you can have a New Year’s Dive at Kralingen and Nesselande. Too cold? Schaatsbaan Rotterdam and IJsvrij Park Festival are also open. Like the Rotterdam cinemas and some supermarkets.
