We take you on a psychedelic journey with BALTHVS! This unique funk trio from Bogotá, Colombia, formed during the pandemic, while escaping the chaos of the city in the countryside. Balthazar Aguirre (guitar, vocals), Johanna Mercuriana (bass, vocals) and Santiago Lizcano (drums, vocals) have perfectly matched their music to the soothing atmosphere of the countryside.
BALTHVS brings a refreshing mix of cumbia, surf rock, funk and Turkish influences. With lyrics in both English and Spanish and a heavy dose of mystical instrumentals, their music creates a hypnotic experience that reflects Colombia’s rich psychedelic culture. As Balthazar Aguirre so beautifully puts it: “Colombia is very psychedelic, with a lot of traditional medicine and entheogens.” The band is known for their energetic and surprising live shows, which are often full of improvisation.
