The Living Library is a concept of Danish origin that brings people into contact with each other in order to investigate and combat prejudices. Just like a normal library where books provide access to unknown worlds, the Living Library also offers visitors the opportunity to step into someone else’s world. In a very simple way: by talking to each other in an open-minded manner.

Centrale Bibliotheek

Library center Rotterdam

The Rotterdam Centrale Bibliotheek is located in the Laurenskwartier in the center of Rotterdam. Since 1983, the library has been located in a modern building on Hoogstraat. It is a striking building with steel pipes running from the roof down along the glass facade. The library was designed by the Van den Broek and Bakema architectural firm. The way the building is designed is regularly compared to the Center Pompidou in Paris.
