For Kunsthal Light #15, the raw spatial work of the Rotterdam artist Pim Palsgraaf (1979) takes over the building like a parasite. Slowly but surely, with the passage of time his constructions intervene in the concrete, iron and glass of Koolhaas’ architecture.
Kunsthal Rotterdam is housed in a striking building designed by Rotterdam s OMA/Rem Koolhaas architectural practice and was opened in 1992. Since then, the Kunsthal has put culture in the widest sense of the word on show, from elitist to popular.
From 1 November, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the Kunsthal Rotterdam will present a large retrospective exhibition of Paul Delvaux (1897-1994), one of the leading painters in Belgian art history.
In collaboration with the Mondriaan Fund, the Kunsthal will present the work of the shortlisted candidates for the Prix de Rome Visual Arts 2017 that were selected earlier this year. The nominees are Melanie Bonajo (1978), Rana Hamadeh (1983), Saskia Noor van Imhoff (1982) and Katarina Zdjelar (1979).
