The Fenix Food Factory is a fresh-produce market in the Fenixloods II warehouse in Katendrecht. You can shop here daily for artisanal products from a variety of businesses such as Kaapse Brouwers, Booij Kaasmakers, Firma Bijten, Jordy’s Bakery, CiderCider, Stielman coffee roasters, Meneer Tanger and De Westlandse Tuin. These are all Rotterdam entrepreneurs with a common vision. They share their love of food, expertise in handmade crafts and the belief that the food industry needs to change. This makes the Fenix Food Factory a culinary breeding ground and a place to shop, learn how products are made and experience traditional flavours.
The Fenix Food Factory is open from Tuesday to Sunday, and fun activities are regularly planned. For example, there are live Jazz performances at the Kaapse Brouwers every Friday evening and Sunday afternoon, and a game evening is organised every Thursday.
The Fenixloods II, the warehouse that houses the Fenix Food Factory, will be restored from the beginning of 2020 which means that the market and the entrepreneurs have to find a new location. After the huge restoration and renovation, the Fenixloods II will be the place that tells the stories of millions of migrants who arrived at and departed from these docks in Rotterdam: the FENIX (Phoenix).
Relocation Fenix Food Factory
The start of the renovation of Fenixloods II means the departure of the Fenix Food Factory from the warehouse. But luckily, you don’t have to say goodbye to this popular hotpot because Cape Brewers, Jordy’s Bakery, Westlandse Tuin, Booij Kaasmakers, CiderCider, Bosch & deJong, Stroop and Blije Wijnen can be visited from March 2020 in the renovated Fenixloods I warehouse, fifty metres away. POSSE will also move, to a beautiful building on the corner of Brede Hilledijk/Sumatraweg, and will continue under the name POSSE Petite Brasserie.
