Hoek van Holland beach is 250 meters wide and 3.5 km long. Behind it are the dunes with freely accessible cycling and walking paths. You can best see the typical dune flora during a brisk walking or cycling trip through the Van Dixhoorn Triangle. The beach can be divided into three areas:
The ‘big’ beach
The southern part concerns the area near the Badweg and the Zeekant. This is where most of the beach pavilions are located. Most of the beach events also take place in this area. All facilities are available: showers, (disabled) toilets, parking spaces, beach wheelchairs, first aid post, lifeguard, play areas for children and a bicycle shed. Nice shops and other facilities are located at the Zeeplein at the end of the Badweg. Cyclists and walkers can take a break and enjoy the beautiful view of the beach, sea and estuary of the Nieuwe Waterweg.
The ‘Corner’ beach
The beach at the Rechtestraat is a mecca for water sports enthusiasts. You can take lessons or rent outfits and equipment at De Surfschool and Surfschool Hoek van Holland. Windsurfing association Hoek van Holland and the Kitesurfing school are also located on this stretch of beach and in addition to two beach pavilions, you will also find the Central Post of the Lifeguard. In terms of facilities, you will find showers, toilets and a bicycle shed on this beach.
The Northern Beach
The northern part of the beach can be found at Slag Stuifkenszand and extends to ‘s-Gravenzande (Slag Vlugtenburg). You can enjoy a nice walk on this quiet beach. You will also find the naturist beach here between beach pole 116 and 117. Nude recreation is not allowed in the dune area.
