Near Rotterdam, you’ll find Unesco World Heritage Kinderdijk with 19 windmills from the 18th century. The Waterbus is the fastest way to reach Kinderdijk in less than 30 minutes. View the different routes from Rotterdam:

Route 1 with Waterbus line 21

A direct route from Rotterdam Erasmus Bridge to Kinderdijk. It sails all year round. See the timetable here.

Route 2 with Waterbus line 20 towards Dordrecht and Driehoeksveer ferry

Take the Waterbus from Rotterdam to the Ridderkerk stop and change to the Driehoeksveer ferry to Kinderdijk. The entire trip will take you about 40 minutes. You can buy a ticket on the Driehoeksveer with cash or debit card (€2.00 one way).

Route 3 with Waterbus and bicycle

Travel with line 20 to the Alblasserdam stop, and cycle from there to the Kinderdijk windmills in 15 minutes.

How can I pay for the Waterbus?

Tickets on board: you can buy a ticket from the steward on board (only debit card).

E-ticket: it’s easy to buy a ticket online. Waterbus offers one-way, round trip and day tickets.

OV-chipkaart: checking in and out with your public transport chip card takes place on the quay. The RET public transport chip card that comes with the Rotterdam Welcome Card is not valid on board.

Tourist Day Ticket: you can also use the Tourist Day Ticket to check in on the Waterbus. This ticket is not for sale on the Waterbus. A Tourist Day Ticket costs € 15.50 for unlimited travel by metro, tram, bus and waterbus in Zuid-Holland for one day.
