The Nieuwe Maas River carries plastic litter from inland to the sea. The Recycled Park Project collects the plastic waste in the Nieuwe Maas so that it no longer pollutes the North Sea. The collected material is recycled into building blocks. These are combined into floating platforms and form the basis for a new green area.
These floating parks add value to Rotterdam and fulfil an ecological role in the river water. The building blocks are manufactured in such a way that nature can grow on the upper side, and because of the rough finish on the underside, it also stimulates (underwater) life.
