The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra (Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest), founded in 1918, is a contemporary orchestra with deep roots in classical music. Since 2008 it has been led by conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin. The orchestra’s programmes of energetic and colourful classical music frequently combine performances of other disciplines such as the visual arts, film and dance.
De Doelen Congress Centre is the orchestra’s home base, but it can be frequently heard at other locations as well, from Rotterdam stages for contemporary music to major international concert halls. The orchestra is a regular guest orchestra at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris.
