The Slaak Rotterdam is a five-star hotel. This former printing company of ‘Het Vrije Volk’ (The Free People) has been converted into a design boutique hotel and offers 74 spacious rooms, Restaurant & Bar Didot34, two meeting rooms and a fitness centre called Studio34.
‘Het Slaakhuys’ is one of Rotterdam’s architecture icons and was officially listed as a national reconstruction monument in 2010. The 50s interior is a contrast to the no-nonsense and cubist character of the building’s architecture. All rooms offer Swiss Sense beds, a bathroom with walk-in rain shower, separate toilet and contemporary technological features such as an interactive 49’’ TV, mobile check-in and Mobile Key room entry. Restaurant & Bar Didot34, named after the font of the newspaper ‘Het Vrije Volk’, blurs the boundaries between flexible working, breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks with the ‘fourth meal’ concept: small international dishes that you can order throughout the day. Didot34 is a vibrant bar that celebrates the 50s with active programming such as the ‘Jazz34’ Nights, ‘On the Records’ Vinyl Sessions and the ‘Sunday Brunch’. Didot34’s Upper Bar offers an ideal opportunity to bring guests together for a private gathering, networking event or celebration.
