The Laurenskerk, a monument filled with stories
- Time & Prices
22 November 2012 - 31 December 2014
As the only remaining building from medieval Rotterdam, the Laurenskerk offers a view into the history of the city’s development. The exhibition lets its visitors relive the past through a surprising layout and decoration of the chapels and compelling audio excerpts. Some twenty parts from stories have been grouped around locations and objects in the Laurenskerk. The stories and locations are authentic, but the sceneries, the media used and many of the objects are modern.
The story of the Laurenskerk is told in a collage of images, colours, shapes, things, texts, music and words. Sometimes moving, often funny, informative but never dull.
Grote- of St. Laurenskerk
The mediaeval Grote- of Sint Laurenskerk was traditionally the main church of Rotterdam. The church regularly hosts cultural events, concerts, lectures and exhibitions. Surrounded by modern architectural wonders, the Laurenskerk is an imposing presence in the heart of the city.
