The intimate Chabot Museum has a varied international programme of exhibitions. The museum is home to one of the most important collections of Dutch expressionist painter and sculptor Henk Chabot (1894-1949). He holds a special place in Dutch modern art as a painter of farmers, gardeners, the landscape of the Netherlands and of refugees and people who were forced into hiding during the Second World War.

The museum is housed in a white villa which was built in 1938 and is now a listed monument. Together with Huis Sonneveld (the Sonneveld House), the Van Nelle Factory and the Feyenoord football stadium, it represents a highpoint of the functionalist ‘Nieuwe Bouwen’ (New Construction) style of architecture.

Groups of 12 to 20 people can tour the museum with an expert guide. Tours are by reservation only.

The Chabot Museum is in the Museumkwartier area, near Museum Park, and can be reached by metro, tram 7 or 20 (Eendrachtsplein stop). The museum is about 10 minutes’ walk from Rotterdam Central Station. The Museum Park Garage car park is diagonally opposite the building.
