The younger you learn to handle money well, the smaller the chance of money problems later. That is the underlying idea and ambition of GeldLab, a unique place in the Netherlands where young people learn to deal with money in a playful way. The focus is on 9 games, where money can be earned, spent, saved and/or borrowed. In MoneyLab, learning to deal with money takes concrete shape. To learn by practise!
There are three things that they have to arrange themselves, just like in real life, namely shopping, purchasing a telephone and means of transport. The starting amount they receive at the start of the game is not enough. That is why there are various games where they can earn money, for example as a pizza baker and delivery person or by making price-conscious choices.
When playing the games, young people are faced with dilemmas and temptations and risks, based on recognizable situations from everyday life. GeldLab helps young people develop financial knowledge and skills. Do they have money left after the game series or are they in the red? Mistakes are allowed to be made, especially in GeldLab! You would rather make them in GeldLab than in real life.
