Drinks & Dining in Rotterdam

Rotterdam’s wonderful food culture stems from the enormous cultural diversity in the city. You can see that and you can smell it when you walk along the West Kruiskade with all its shops and eateries, at the outdoor markets where fresh herring and Surinamese snacks are advertised in many languages, and especially at the famous Markthal. Choosing a restaurant from the huge selection in Rotterdam can be challenging. Whatever you love and whatever your budget is, one thing is certain: Rotterdam will leave you wanting more.

Corona measures

Restaurants, cafés and outdoor seating areas are open in the Netherlands, but special restrictions apply. Reservations are often required for restaurants, cafés and bars (as the number of customers permitted can be limited) and you could be asked whether you have cold-like symptoms or a fever. At all times you must keep a distance of 1.5 meters from other people who are not part of your own household. All customers will be seated at a table or at the bar.
