King of the World

28 December 2024

King of the World, a household name in the Dutch music scene for more than 10 years, offers Blues Rhythm and Roots of the highest level. With a new studio album – expected on October 1 – featuring special guests Matt Schofield, Shirma Rouse & Christine Tambakis, the gentlemen of King of the World are determined to once again live up to their reputation as the hardest-working band in the Netherlands.

After its formation in 2012, the band was quickly labeled as a ‘supergroup’ due to the rich musical history of the band members, who played with Snowy White, Matt Schofield, Cuby & the Blizzards, among others. Twelve years later, King of the World remains more than worthy of this title and the band has lost none of its energy, drive and creativity. With the Belgian guitar virtuoso Stef Delbaere and singer/drummer Marlon Pichel, the band has reinvented itself.

King of the World stands for high-quality roots and rhythm & blues with a diversity of vocal highlights. The band has built up quite a reputation both in the studio and on stage and has received rave reviews for their six previous albums and many shows, including North Sea Jazz, Ribs ‘n Blues, Vienna Spring Blues Festival, Paradiso. The new album features a new band sound with more room for the vocal qualities of the band members, with Rotterdam singer, drummer and composer Marlon Pichel playing an increasingly important role. Line-up: Ruud Weber – vocals, bass Stef Delbaere – guitar Govert van der Kolm – keys, vocals Marlon Pichel – drums, vocals
