Drummer and bandleader Kevin van den Elzen comes to the Netherlands and dives into West Coast jazz with the Dutch Concert Big Band. Special guests tonight are singer Anna Serierse with her beautiful, supple voice and the star on trumpet, Ruud Breuls.
Expect an ode to the exceptionally rich and swinging big band tradition of the American West Coast, with compositions by legends such as Henry Mancini, Shorty Rogers, Terry Gibbs, Quincy Jones and Oliver Nelson. Kevin van den Elzen moved to Los Angeles in 2015 to study with drummer Peter Erskine, known from Weather Report among others. Kevin ended up in many big bands led by illustrious names such as Bill Holman, John Beasley and John Clayton. Now he is back with the Dutch Concert Big Band, which he founded in 2013. The band has performed with big names from Dutch pop and jazz.
