More than meets the ear
Like a flame, Nyala’s music is ever changing and moving. It can be smoldering, intense and low in dynamics, but it has the possibility to grow into fiery improvisations and compositions. A melody, a rhythm, a pattern, a text, an atmosphere. All these aspects and more are used in their music. Fixed and repetitive or completely free and improvised, like a flame. Dynamic and moving from high to low, or sometimes even completely still. Reality is seen in a different light through the changing shadows.
Nyala played in Italy in 2022 as part of Mittelfest in Cividale del Friuli and they also played at the Carinthischer Sommerfest in Austria as winners of CS under 30. Nyala has also performed in the Netherlands, including at the Roode Bioscoop in Amsterdam, the Willem Twee Toonzaal in Den Bosch, at the Oranjewoud Festival, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven and at November Music.
Since then, Nyala recorded their debut album at the Fattoria Musica recording studio in Osnabrück in March 2023, this album was released in May 2024 – A Way of Life.
Nyala’s debut album ‘A Way of Life’ consists of impressionistic music that paints cinematic images of introspection, heaviness and melancholy in a seemingly beautiful world. Their music is just like their mutual dynamics: light, cheerful and playful with room for meaningful subjects.
