A Vibrant Piece of History
Historic Delfshaven is a characteristic part of Rotterdam that has stood the test of time, despite the bombing in 1940. This place, where the Pilgrim Fathers once left for America, has a rich history as the birthplace of naval hero Piet Hein. Life here used to revolve around herring fishing and gin distilleries, but nowadays the historic canal houses exude a cozy atmosphere with antique and trinket shops, cafes and restaurants. Some notable places are De Pelgrim brewery and café De Oude Sluis, both with terraces on the harbor, and the special restaurant 't Ouwe Bruggetje, located on the water.
