Large collection of trees, shrubs, etc.
Trompenburg Gardens & Arboretum is a botanical garden with a large collection of trees, shrubs, perennials, flower bulbs and tubers located on the edge of the center of Rotterdam. The garden covers no less than 8 hectares and is a true pearl for those seeking peace and quiet and green lovers!
The construction is diverse; there are traditional English-style gardens, a food forest in development, but also a desert greenhouse with cacti and succulents. The first construction of the gardens took place about 200 years ago. A few years ago, the garden was also added to the list of (green) municipal monuments. Moreover, the gardens are an officially registered museum because of the special plant collections (including the national collection of oaks, beech, holly and hostas, as well as more than 700 species of rhododendrons) and thus “The Green Museum of Rotterdam”.
