22 January 2021
Five new icons are waiting patiently for visitors and the admiration they bring. The tallest tower in the Benelux, the first floating farm in the world, and a unique public reflective art depot.
1. Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen: the very first public art depot in the world

2. Zalmhaven Tower: the tallest in the Benelux
De Zalmhaven is the tallest residential tower in the Benelux at 215 metres. The building is located next to the Erasmus Bridge. The first 190 metres contain the residential floors, and a restaurant, bar and viewing point unlike any other in the Netherlands will be housed in the 25-metre-high top.

3. Fenix I: crème de la crème of Rotterdam architecture and culture
Fenix I has received many awards, including ‘Residential Building of the Year 2020’. The crème de la crème of Rotterdam culture – Codarts, Conny Janssen Danst, Circus Rotjeknor – is located in the plinth. But most come for the Fenix Food Factory’s culinary delights, and who can blame them?

4. Floating Farm: very first floating farm
Rotterdam has a lot of water and the Floating Farm is an innovative example of how to make good use of it. This first floating farm in the world opened in 2019, and produces food innovatively and circularly, close to the urban consumer. The cows are fed the residual flows from Rotterdam breweries and Schiedam windmills. Visitors can taste the yoghurt and milk produced here!

5. Hofbogen: urban hotspots in the longest monumental building in the Netherlands
Imagine an almost two-kilometre-long green city park high above the streets! This will soon become a reality in Rotterdam: the construction of the Hofbogenpark will start in 2022. Space for relaxation and nature will be created on top of the Hofbogen – an old railway line and the longest monumental building in the Netherlands. Until the park opens, you can find design, fashion and food at the current hotspots in the Hofbogen, such as Man Met Bril Koffie, 's Zomers Bloemen, Bird, FG Food Labs and Brewpub Reijngoud. This is vibrant Rotterdam at its best.
