Former cruise ship the ss Rotterdam is home to two bars, the Ocean Bar and the Captains Lounge . The interior of the Ocean Bar is shaped like a wave and the ceiling tiles are designed to look like giant fish scales. The Ocean Bar serves coffee and cake, as well as wine, beer and cocktail snacks. When the weather is fine, the bar is closed.
The ss Rotterdam is the biggest ocean steamer ever built in the Netherlands. As former flagship of the Holland-America Line, she has voyaged many of the world’s seas since she first set sail in 1959. Now moored permanently at the Rijnhaven in Rotterdam, near Katendrecht, you can still feel the history on board. An extensive renovation between 2005 and 2008 restored the 1950s interior and the ship’s many artworks to their former glory.
The ss Rotterdam is easy to reach by car or public transport. From the Rijnhaven metro station, it is a 10-minute journey on bus line 77. Paid parking is available on the quay.
