From March 2024, almost 100 masterpieces from the collection of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen will come home. The 'Darlings' can then be seen in the Boijmans Van Beuningen Depot. On the spacious fifth floor of Depot you will find more than 70 paintings and several sculptures. Think of masters such as Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Picasso, Dali, Magritte and Fabritius, but also The Tower of Babel and work by Rachel Ruysch, Charley Toorop, Jean-Michel Basquiat and many more. The 'Liefelingen XL' can be seen on the third and fourth floors of the Depot. These are large-scale works, such as the painting by Mark Rothko that the museum has in its collection and the mirror room by Yayoj Kusama.
The 'Lievelingen' are partly organized to celebrate that Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen will be exactly 175 years old in 2024. The selection of works provides a nice overview of the museum's collecting history. What is special is that an audience vote has been included. For the past two years, visitors to Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen have been able to enter a favorite work on a computer. The results were included in the compilation of the 'Favourites'.
