Bunker Bremen en Hamburg

Heritage, Hoek van Holland, Museum

The bunkers are located in the unique Vinetaduin on the beach boulevard in Hoek van Holland. In addition to the special flora and fauna, this area under the management of the Zuid Hollands Landschap foundation contains fantastic remains that recall various exciting layers of military history. Old Dutch casemates, underground tunnel systems but also the monumental Troposcatter are, in addition to the many German bunkers, striking remains with a fascinating history.

Bunker Bremen is decorated with beautiful exhibitions on the themes of the Second World War such as Mobilization, Occupation, Resistance and Liberation, in which local aspects are highlighted that are in line with the environment.

Recently, Bunker Hamburg – still furnished in its original state – has also been part of the collection. Visitors can experience how telexists and telegraphers took care of communication and how shipping was controlled because of possible interventions from the then Eastern Bloc during the Cold War.

Volunteers from the foundation allow these memorable periods of national history to be relived during the guided tours, focusing especially on the young.
