Groot Handelsgebouw

Architecture

The Wholesale Building is a multi-tenant building with commercial space for wholesale companies and was the symbol of the reconstruction of Rotterdam. The enormous building block of 220 by 84 meters was and is the largest commercial building in the Netherlands; a mile of road runs through it over three levels. The roof pavilion used to house the Kriterion cinema.

Designed by HA Maaskant and W. van Tijen (1947-1953)
