Scheepmakershaven located in the Maritime District was built in 1613 and runs from Leuvehaven to the Wijnhaven. The Scheepmakershaven was a city shipyard until 1685 when this activity was moved to a larger yard at Oostzeedijk. In the period 1602-1795, the two city shipyards built about 110 ships for the VOC.
