More information

The only medieval building in Rotterdam is a must-see; the Laurenskerk, or Church of St. Lawrence. Built between 1449 and 1525, the church is the only surviving late Gothic building from the originally medieval Rotterdam. The images of the badly damaged church in World War II and its reconstruction became a symbol of all that the city and its people have endured.

What can you do there?

Wander through the church and listen to fascinating stories using the storybook. The energetically inclined can climb the tower during the tower season and enjoy the breathtaking view of the city. For those who prefer to keep both feet on the ground, you can enjoy free organ recitals, the special amateur organ evenings and the summer market concerts. Besides the free concerts, various concerts and events take place under the centuries-old roof throughout the year.

The Laurenskerk is a five-minute walk from the train and metro station Blaak.
