This theatre opened in 1954 as the Groote Schouwburg and was renamed Theater Zuidplein after its major renovation in 1978. The theatre’s programme features performances that highlight topical issues in society. The programming is very broad, from cabaret, dance, drama, theatre concerts, youth theatre, and afternoon theatre for seniors to festivals and shows by guest directors.

Theater Zuidplein’s ambition is to be more than a theatre alone. As part of this ambition, it always organises fringe activities surrounding all youth theatre productions. Many performances are accompanied by special food and drink selections from around the world. And at Theater Zuidplein, there is always a chance for a meet-and-greet with the artists.

The theatre café is open for lunch and dinner.
Theater Zuidplein is in Rotterdam South, near the Zuidplein metro station. There is ample paid parking in the vicinity of the theatre.
