Vogelvallei Slufter (Bird Valley) is an extended natural area of 21-hectares situated in the Rotterdam port area. It has several islands, large water features and a wall where sand martins nest. It is a safe enclosed area where birds can rest, eat and breed. The diversity of the islands and vegetation attract many different kinds of coastal birds – like terns, common terns, gulls – and songbirds – whitethroats and blue throats – to the valley. Two bird lookout posts provide opportunities to admire the bird population. They are accessible by bike and car.
