The Wereldmuseum’s collection offers insight into cultures from all over the world. At the same time, the exhibitions are also an illustration of Rotterdam’s passion for travel, international relations, colonial past and commercial spirit. The objects cover a time period of 2000 years and were collected over a period of about 160 years by Rotterdammers, for Rotterdammers. The building and the collection of the Wereldmuseum are both literally and figuratively a ‘product’ of the city, its history and mentality.
The entrance ticket includes an audio tour. At the weekend it is possible to take a guided tour. On request, a group tour can be booked for 10 to 15 people.
The Wereldmuseum is located in the Scheepvaartkwartier and can be reached by tram line 7 and the water taxi. Leuvehaven metro station is approximately a 10-minute walk away. You can park in the nearby Erasmus Bridge parking garage.
